Compost hoard cooling? I have made a mountain 4 weeks ago, of leaves,...

I have made a mountain 4 weeks ago, of leaves, grass and manure. Well it have been heat for the last 3 weeks and i enjoy been turning it every week. But after my third turn (last week) the compost haven't be heating much this week. Most leaves and grass hold turned black but they haven't broken down. Is this normal or should i do something more or less it?

Thanks
Answers:    I made a screen out of 1/4" metal screening and sift my compost. It looks approaching a shorter version of the ones archeologist's use. The stuff that falls through the sieve is geared up to use. The big stuff goes rear legs to a new pile near some extra greens. I have the luxury of three piles contained by various stages of de-composurers and a chipper for the recalcitrant or I use this tough stuff as great mulch. RScott
Compost can be described as 'short', 'medium', or 'long' depending on how much it's broken down. Sounds to me similar to you put some effort within and made your compost pretty quickly. it's presently 'long' compost, the most useful stage IMO. Long compost is biddable for use as a mulch. It's not worth turning anymore, unless you really want a short compost for use in a potting mix for instance. In which shield throw some blood and bone in as you turn it..
