Do You have to loaf until the soil is completely broken down? or can it have some oddments of banana, egg shells, and leaf ruins.?
Why are calla lillies used for funerals?
Answers:    The compost isn't completely "finished" until you can't identify anything in it. No banana peel, etc.

That being said, it won't really hurt your garden to use it. In certainty, it will continue to break down around the plants.

The merely exception to this is if you compost pet waste/ manure. That could hold harmful pathogens within it that should be composted for at least a year, and even later, be careful if you're putting it contained by your vegetable garden.
