Answers: Contouring is usually associated with dry landscape farming to prevent erosion. I associate terracing near irrigated crops needing flooding close to rice. RScott
I'm thinking that terracing is more expensive. Generally speaking you have to hold the level up somehow - retaining walls, etc. I'm not a farmer, I'm an enhancing landscaper. Contour planting takes a angelic eye for drainage. Have you tried contacting your local extension service professional?
