We are new at gardening.
We a moment ago planted a "Big Leaf Tomato" plant.
Does this type of tomato plant need support sticks?
(I don't know what the support sticks are call technically but you know, you put them on the sides of the plant and tie floss or something around the sticks to help support the plant).

Thanx from a newbie!
You might want to buy a tomato 'cage'. They are inexpensive and fit over the tomato plant. The bottom wires will go down into the ground to preserve it steady. The top will keep your tomatoes up so they don't capture rotten laying on the ground. You might want to put some mulch around the plant but not too close to the stem. Be sure to fertlize it and offer it plenty of water.

We use a cage
It is a small piece of fencetied into a circle
we merely stick it in the ground over the plant and as it grows we lately route the limbs of the plant through it

if you use floss be sure not to tie it to tight or the floss will cut through the skin and eradicate the plant

you should be able to find cage at your garden store
and you can reuse them year to year
Answers:    Chances are that your plant will eventually entail a tomato stake to keep it from creeping across the ground (which allows bugs to attack the fruit) but floss is not devout for tying them as the wind will slam the plant against its ties. Use mature worn-out teeshirt strips or unwanted pantyhose to tie your plant. Good luck!
