I want the plant to have some resistance to nematodes. Also, I don't want ficus Benjamina because it have serious root problems.

There are many species you can plant. The Hibiscus, Azalea,
Ginger, Lemon Thread Cypress, Loropetalum, are in recent times a few.
Think about putting some pretty grasses as an accent beside your hedges. Arborvitaes will work ably, and so will Yews.
