When I was small, I be told that fruits had their seed on the inside, and veggies on the outside, but this is not exact. If so, what is an avocado, tomato,ect?

I sorta travel by this. If it is sweet to the taste, it is fruit. Otherwise, vegetable.
You are right going on for the seeds - avocadoes , cucumbers , tomatoes etc are fruits , NOT vegetables
