I live in the Western New York nouns (Rochester) and have grasses that are potted and when the frost comes they will die.
Has anyone brought theirs surrounded by and kept them growing and brought them back out the following year? I enjoy grow lamps if needed or can i of late keep them fresh a window for buoyant?
For them to perform their best, they entail time to rest. (they're just resting, not unconscious, as long as they're hardy in your zone)
I don't recommend trying to maintain them going all year indoors.
If you don't want to plant it, engender sure to insulate the pot. You can bury it or pile mulch or soil or gravel around the pot.
I've tried to keep the red annual grass & the fiber optics grass (neither are hardy for my zone) to bring rear next year & haven't have very well brought-up results.
The ones that are hardy & in pots I put within a polyhouse (no heat purely wind protection) until subsequent spring.
Grasses are very hardy species
Mine grow within the garden and pots outside all year round, our max low for winter around -6c
In the giant country can be down to around - 11 and no real problem have showed up
Answers: Most grasses need a length of cold to stay healthy. They want to die back to the roots, and afterwards start growing again in the spring. While I wouldn't tolerate a potted plant freeze solid by any means, I would for sure keep it surrounded by a place that wasn't going to drop much below freezing - maybe a square or shed. Only if the temperatures outside are going to drop to the point that the soil contained by the pot would freeze completely would I bring them indoors, and even then I would hold on to them as cool as you can, so that they don't break dormancy.
