Will the chemicals affect my garden or is OK to use the swimming pool water? Please provide resources if you can. Thanks!
When my kids were smaller, I have one of those large above ground pools that we drained into the meadow and shrub beds at the wrap up of the season without any problem. However, I permit the pool stand for a week first to let the chlorine evaporate out until that time draining.
I would not however drain it into the vegetable garden or flower beds ~ if you enjoy ever done ecology experiments involving capillary action or osmosis, you would discover that the plants draw up the chemicals along near the water up into the stems and flower which will be transmitted to whomever eat it.
Absolutely NOT, unless the chlorine is first practically removed from the water using a treatment for fishponds first (which allow the chlorine and other compounds to be rendered harmless). Chlorine is a sterilizer! It will massacre all the perfect bacteria and blight the roots of the plants that come into contact with it!
Chlorine is already surrounded by municipal tap hose, but in small quatities (and even consequently care must be teken to neutralize it when used surrounded by fish ponds!). But Chlorine in pool sea is at very much difficult levels, and is markedly toxic to plant and animal life. You will damage your soil and your plants if you use it without first neutralize the chlorine.
