I'm trying to figure out if the same black triple-shredded mulch I use for the flower bed would have any effects on my vegetable plants. Anyone know if there are hurtful chemicals in the dye they use or the process they use to make the mulch?
Answers:    I don't know give or take a few any threat from chemicals leaching ito the soil but the black mulch will increase the soil temperature. Right now, that's a point of concern here within Los Angeles with our heat flap. From fall to spring, that would not be a bad point. But I can't help regarding the dye and what it's made from.

Good luck.
I would deliberate it would get way too hot and burn your plants and possibly the roots. I wouldn't arbitrariness it. i used it last years- scotts- it said on the bag it be safe for veggie gardens...
