We have a kid fir that we dug up from a friend's land and planted him surrounded by a large pot until he grew stronger. (yes, he seem to have a personality) However, we negelected him and the needles are adjectives brown and dead looking. I checked the branches and they are adjectives still soft and pliant, not brittle. If I move this little guy out of the pot and put him in the ground where on earth he belongs, will he thrive or will I just snuff him? Or is he beyond hope and not worth digging the hole?
Answers: Can't say from the information given. Best fate is to get it within the ground and keep it moist (but not soggy) and mulched.
Pots are much more difficult environments for plants than growing directly contained by the ground -- drier, colder in the winter, hotter contained by the summer.
