I've had a water issue surrounded by my basement, so I've graded up the dirt around the house to remedy the problem. I simply have the front of the house left, which is going to require the most amount of dirt. I own many bags of mulch (wood chips) that I would resembling to mix in with the dirt so it will run longer. Is this okay, or will it create more problems for me?
Answers: You need dirt. DO NOT mix these two. Mulch itself serves one need, and loam will solve the other. Earth will create the slope that is needed to create a shedding for water. Mulch will simply keep it there. I am not sure how much you want, but you can buy 40# bags for .99 cents, then cover will mulch. Gravel is not an opportunity either. good luck.
NO the mulch will RETAIN the river and encourage insects that you will not want coming into your house.
