There are literally hundreds of varieties of rattan. Many of them are hardy to -25 degrees. Visit a nursery implicit you in unpaid spring, and see if they have any available. If not, you could ask them if you could lay down some through them.
Also - pay attention to whether it is a clumping, or running, mixed bag. Running varieties will inevitability containment if you don't want them to eat your neighbor's house. It's more work initially, but once containment is within place, you're good to progress. (pond liner works well.)
Also - different variety have different pallid needs. Some do better contained by sun, some better in shade. Know where on earth you want to place the stuff before you choose.
