My little 6 year old neighbor (such a sweetheart) brought me over a touch flower plant. I am a horrible gardener, so I have no model not only what it is, but the comfort involved, too. Could someone point me in the right direction? I'd love to know what it's call, and the best care for it. Thanks!
Answers: It is an annual verbena and looks to be a range called Superverbena, burgundy. Annual verbena is comfortable to grow, tolerant of low water, and will bloom profusely if you remember to comatose head diligently. Verbena is a wonderful butterfly plant and also attracts bumble bees, butterflies, and moth hawks (also call sphinx moths)
They do best in powerfully drained soil, water when dry and they will tolerate full sun to mild shade. For best results I recommend at least possible 6 hours of sunlight per day and a weekly feed of Miracle Grow or other 10-10-10 plant food of your choice.
