Building a fire pit contained by my backyard? finals are done on friday and im going to have friends...

finals are done on friday and im going to have friends over and be going to torch our papers. Anyway i dug out a small hole about a foot low, then where on earth the bowl meets the turn-up i layed bricks. There is still a little bit of grass the touches the bowl but its adjectives alive so i dont think itll breed the entire yard take in for questioning fire. i filled it next to wood and upon removing the bark of one log that seem kind of moist i found TONS of red ants. i of late left it, will the wood be moist or something and not burn (i know the ants will.) what other safekeeping precautions do i need to filch.

Have to agree beside "Red" too about checking the local ordinances-a early call to the fire department will do. Where I live we can't enjoy any open fires unless it's a cooking fire, so be sure to own your marshmallows handy!

Have fun and be safe!
You can dampen the grass around the fire pit thoroughly before starting the fire, so it won't shut in fire.
Don't wanna be a 'party-pooper', but you might want to check your local ordinances if you live in city/village limits to gross sure you won't be ticketed for burning. In my area, we own to have a lid on any type of burning pit...
