Answers:    You can spray the plants really very well with the hose for temporary fix. Then grasp some insecticidal soap from your garden store. It's safe for humans since these are your food plants, (unlike seven dust or other poisons.) You only enjoy to use it once a week, unless it rains a lot at your location. The bugs do not similar to this stuff. It has really helped hang on to my pepper plants off the bug menu.
Are you sure the bugs are killing the plants? Besides mortal "all over them", what are they doing?

I have found that at lowest half the bugs on plants are there to put away other bugs.
