The grass on my front yard is changing colors from Green to Brown; it looks similar to if it was burned or dried out. What did cause the grass to turn brown and what can I do to fix it so it won't come about again?

If You dampen your yard in the morning or after noons dont cuz the sun get hotter then and it burns the grass so wait until the evening be fore dark to water your yard and it wont.
How long have the grass been there? The ground may own become very hard and want aerating. Also, when was the last time you fertilized? You enjoy to keep nutrients in the ground for a hearty lawn.
If you determind that there are no grubs, or other pests cause the problem or dogs - the urine will kill the grass especially from a female dog - after you may want to consider having the lawn nouns dug up and then adding the nutrients and re planting. A worthy grass for your area is called Canadian Green - it holds within temps from 0 to 100. what part of the country are you in? If it's St. Augustine grass...it wishes to be watered regularly or it will die. I live in Florida. If you have a local nursery that sell sod and you can take a 1 ft square sample to for evaluation...do so.
Answers: Hey, The first thing that came to mind when I read this be grubs. Grubs are a bug that lies underneath the grass and basicly eats the roots killing it. We have the same issue. What we did was bought a bug murderer that you attach onto your hose and spray on the dead area's you can buy it at your hardware store. Once grubs have eat your grass normally it does not grow back, so you stipulation to add some top soil and grass seed to get hold of it going again. If that does not work then it is just plain infirm lack of rain and to much warmth which is burning it. Make sure you water 1 inch a week to prevent the burning if it has not rain, this will ensure a nice healthy lawn. Good Luck.
