I laid down 2 applications of Scotts Fall Weed and Feed......the feed is working....the weed sector is not.
I swear it's 80% clover. Should I just agree to it go for trickle and winter,
let it die over winter afterwards hit it hard within spring?
Answers: Keep the clover!
Clover is one of the most amazing ground covers ... it 'fixes' nitrogen (naturally converts sunlight into nitrogen fertilizer) that, over time, improves the soil element so you won't need artificial fertilisers. It will also sort other plants (including the grass, trees, flowers etc) healthier.
Other benefits:
* clover keep your lawn green when it would otherwise turn brown (as a result of dry or cool winter weather)
* clover attracts parasitoid wasps (the non-biting kind) which fertilise flowers and other plants)
* clover smells better than a grassland.
* clover 'heals' damaged soil such as areas of the grassland that have be exposed to de-icing salt used on winter roads.
Keep your clover. Horticulturists would agree! If you don't believe me, do a net search for 'clover + lawn'.
Winterize your meadow with a devout weed and feed product. That should solve your clover problem and bestow your lawn a virtuous dose of food to bring it back tacky and lush next spring.
