We just bought a house and the backyard is covered in mature poop. The grass is grown over too. I am thinking the best thing to do is grind up the whole courtyard and resod. Any other ideas?
Mow the patio, the lawn mower will mulch up the poop and it will be an excellent fertilizer for the grass, and the above poster is right...now is the wrong time of year to resod If you are predisposed to do that but with the temp right now.not the best time to sod. You could hire a service to pick it up. There are services that pick up doggy do.
Jenny this may be the most sencible thing to do within the circumstances. Now the grass is grown over, any effort you make to verbs it up, would only end within infuriation, and frustration, and the yard would then be surrounded by a worse state than before. Get the tiller in, and re-seed or re-sod. Although your pocket will be lighter, you will be much happier next to the end result. I suggest that you use a weed whacker to get the antediluvian grass off the yard. Don't budge too low as you do not want to stir up all that old poop. Rake the grass sour the yard then pick up as much of the outdated poop with a poop scooper. Then plow it under and re-sod.
Answers: sounds a little drastic and expensive to resod the undamaged yard. Poop will eventually biodegrade into the soil as there is no longer a dog producing more respectively day. I would go near just mowing really low with a mulcher blade and permit nature do the rest.
Your plan sounds best to me. I would, however, expect about re-seeding rather than sod, sod is expensive and the kernel will sprout in 7-10 days. I would mow it with a mulching mower if it's behind the times dried up poop. It will decompose.
