I grew up in Sydney near an apricot tree in my courtyard, so I know that they will grow in this climate, I'm a short time ago unsure what time of the year to plant it.
I'd also like an theory on where to buy a tree to plant, as I can't come across to locate one. Do I need to place a special command with my nursery?
And any other tips on growing and pruning apricot trees will be appreciated..
Answers:    Plant one when it is bare-rooted surrounded by winter. Try a fruit tree nursery. Often alot of fruit trees aren't sold until the end of autumn. Daleys (spelling?) nursery does a communication order too their website is assured to find. I haven't tried them (I don't think they post to WA) but I see that they enjoy alot of nice fruit trees. I prune my apricot in winter and nurture with a fruit tree slow release fertilizer. Good luck, and soak up the taste of your home-grown apricots!
fall/winter is best, but anytime will do if it is watered surrounded by well until established.http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geu86Ox69H4a...
