Asian Pear tree requirements? If all goes resourcefully, we'll be moving in to our new home...

If all goes resourcefully, we'll be moving in to our new home surrounded by a month and one of the trees that I would like to plant is an Asian pear tree, but I'm not sure if it will do well contained by our area.
I live in SC.

Any info on their requirements, etc would be greatly appreciated :) Of course I'd specially love to hear from relatives who have experience with this tree :)
