Ladybugs are fabulous in the garden. Both they and their larva are aphid-eating machines! Make sure they are red. There is another beetle that looks similar to a ladybug, but is green. This is a potato beetle, and will eat the garden. Ladybug larva look like little black "worms" next to a red or orange stripe on their back. The pupa of a ladybug looks close to bird droppings, and is usually in the center of a leaf. Ladybugs get through aphids and other small insects that are harmful to plants! So, yes, they are wonderful for gardens! And cute to look at!
