Are here any poisonous variety of apple? I don't want to know about cyanide in seed and stuff like...

I don't want to know about cyanide in seed and stuff like that but are there in actuality any varieties that are genuinly poisonous? I just found an apple tree surrounded by my girlfriends garden and out of interest took a bite. It didn't taste bad but clearly wasn't ripe. I would be pleased about any help!

Answers:    crab apples will give you horrific gut ache. My mum used to tell us to stay away from them as they be poisonous, but I think they're just too sour for our stomachs. Does that make them poisonous? You can make crab apple jelly from them, so the cooking process must kill in cold blood whatever's wrong in them.
