My palms are very hulking,in pots and 10 yrs.dated. The leaves are turning yellow.I conjecture the soil is exhausted. Is there a suitable nurture for these and phormium ?
Answers: i think miracle gro is upright. palms seem to similar to that fetilizer. maybe since the soil is probably exausted you might want to re pot within to a slightly larger pot, or even in surrounded by the same pot near different soil.
If you could remove them from the pots carefully and graze away a little of the outer portion of the potting mix and replace beside fresh mix will help rejuvenate. Any of the slow release fertilisers will nurture them as they need it over a long term. A weak application of an life fertiliser such as Charlie Carp or Seasol during periods of growth help. and a very vague solotion sprayed over the leaves is good too
When you hose down, make sure you flush the pot all right so that build up of salts within the mix from fertiliser and water are flushed out
