Anybody know how to break up a boulder? ...

Answers:    On occassion we have have to do this. I don't know about these other design, but I am speaking of experience.
you will need:

length of rebar - longer than 1/2 the diameter of boulder
masonry drill bit - longer than 1/2 diameter of boulder
sledge tack hammer
corded hammer drill

you will necessitate one masonry drill bit, longer than half the diameter of the boulder. this could cost up to $40.00 on colossal boulders! Make sure the drill bit is a larger diameter than diameter of rebar.

NOW - drill the boulder. MUST BE DRILLED JUST MORE THAN HALF WAY!!! insert the rebar and pound! a good rule to follow is one hole per 300lbs but sometimes you can catch away with abundantly fewer holes!

DO NOT ATTEMPT WITHOUT A CORDED HAMMER DRILL!!!
ONCE INSERTED, REBAR SHOULD ONLY STICK OUT ABOUT BETWEEN 4 AND 6 INCHES OUT OF HOLE! while the rebar desires to bend being pounded, it will push the sides of the boulder promoting separation as resourcefully, but it is the rebar being pounded into the rock that will crack it.
one hole could nick about 20 minutes to drill, but it is a surefire means of access!
how big are we talking your best bet might be to use a chisel and break it into smaller pieces
