Answers:    Ants love dry ground, apart from the usual boiling hose down or ant killer if you save the ground around there nest wet/damp they will move, hopefully from your garden to someone Else's.

I have manage to get them below control using Nippon which is a liquid they will help yourself to back to the nest and destroys hundreds. They breed pretty at the double so boiling water lately kills a few. Ant powder works within the same channel as Nippon too.
