Answers:    We grow and sell alot of gardenias surrounded by our nursery in North Carolina.Gardenias thrive surrounded by warm areas of the US. They do not tolerate cold below 10 F. They want to be covered if the temps fall below 15 degree or so to prevent damage to the foliage. gardenia are mot drought tolerant, they have need of ample water during dry period. They also do not like drizzling feet, they inevitability well-drained soil. Don't plant them too deep outside. Use a fertilizer designed for Azaleas and Camellias as gardenias love caustic soils. You could try to boost yours with some solution fertilizer that contains acid. Don't look for much advancement until it warms up and the spring brings latest growth. You may have to trim your gardenias pay for if they have alot of unmoving limbs, but I'd lurk to see how much they come out in the spring.
