I have added abundantly of compost to my beds but some of them are still completely wet and strapping. What should I add to them to bring them drier and lighter?
Answers:    There is only one answer,...COIR, a product obtain from the shell of coconuts. It has be on the market a few years very soon. I always use it within order to alleviate the destruction of the irreplaceable British peat bogs. I do find however that it dries out slightly quicker than peat if used as a potting compost.. This can be work against by the addition of a sprinkling of vermiculite if using as a potting compost. If, however you are using it on hefty soils, as you are, duff out the vermiculite, and coir will help to dry up your soil. Its price is in the order of the same as peat, but you are helping 3rd World countries and good British peat bogs.
Perlite, they sell it at most garden centers
