hi, i live in Spain and enjoy various plants around my house. I enjoy a large plant (similar to a Yukka) surrounded by my bedroom and my mother is adamant that plants should never be kept surrounded by bedrooms as she says they will whip the oxygen from the room which is obviously not moral for me. I've never heard anything roughly speaking this before. Can anyone shed muted on this topic. Many Thanx.
in actual fact plants take the CO2 from the room and convert it into oxygen for you to breath. So your moms thinking if completely backwords. Indoor plants are a hugely good point.
Here is the science on how many plants it take to provide oxygen for one person

Answers: Plants actually produce oxygen as a by product of photosynthesis. They thieve in Carbon Dioxide to do this, which is what you breath out, and 'turn it into oxygen', so it may even be positive for you.
The gasses are going to affect you within such small amounts, however, so even if it was the other course round it wouldn't matter.
So the short answer - plants contained by your bedroom are fine!
