16-4-8 Fertilizer...For grass and trees?? I have a pouch of 16-4-8 fertilizer and it says that...

I have a pouch of 16-4-8 fertilizer and it says that it is apposite for lawns, trees and shrubs/bushes. I wanted to know how accurate that discription is. I used it on the courtyard already but haven't yet on everything else. I enjoy blue spruces, japanese maples, alberta spruces, traditional maples, flowering trees etc. Thanks!
Answers:    You can read your fertilizer numbers this way. N - P - K

N = Nitrogen 16
Nitrogen is the first leading element responsible for the vegetative growth of plants above ground. With a perfect supply, plants grow sturdily and mature speedily, with rich, dimness green foliage.

P = Phosphorus 4
The second major feature in plant nutrition, phosphorus is essential for glowing growth, strong roots, fruit and flower development, and greater resistance to disease.

K = Potassium (Potash) 8
The third core plant nutrient, potassium oxide is essential for the development of strong plants. It help plants to resist diseases, protects them from the cold and protects during dry weather by preventing excessive water loss.

Organic or inorganic both can burn plants. So applying according to bag instructions is important. The sticky label on these are carefully scrutinize for several reasons. Mostly because these are regulated by the EPA and can wreak serious environmental problems if mishandled. Also the manufacturer desires you to have nouns and thus buy more and tell your friends. I would ponder you could trust the label.
This fertilizer will work on adjectives of your plants. You could use it on vegetables if it does not have a systemic insecticide, and from your description, it sounds resembling it does not.
The directions should tell you how much to apply to trees. The trunk size will determine the amount you will requirement to apply to each tree.
