I want to make a small heat controlled environment in an esky. Would this work to control the boil at about 30degrees centigrade or would it involve to be used only contained by water? It would be roughly a 40litre esky.
Answers:    Aquarium heaters typically only control marine or liquid temps. If you don't own it in juice, it can over heat too at full tilt and cause a fire. The wet around the heater keep it working properly.

I guess if you were to use it to keep hold of a liquid environment stable it would work great for you. But if you intend to hang on to it out of water, you could own problems on your hands...

I would look for a digital heat pad or something more for dry heat (Like a Hot Rocks for reptiles, http://www.futurepets.com/Heat_Emitters.... ) The heating elements within those do not get as hot as nippy and are made for enclosed areas short the risk of fire.

Of course, there is other the easiest rout....Try this :) http://www.coleman.com/coleman/colemanco...

Most TE coolers have a piece to use them to warm things up. I know this one does because i enjoy the same model.
