Wooden toy protectant for outside toys? I'm sure there is something close to what im looking for...

I'm sure there is something close to what im looking for but i would have no theory what it is called. Heres the matter: Im repainting a toy tricycle that my sister gave me, and I want it to be put outside, but I know that the rainfall will ruin it and the paint job. is at hand something I can "laminate" it with? Like a clear substance to put over the top of everything? If so, whats it call and where can i find it? Thanks!
Answers:    Spar Varnish or Spar Urethane

These are used on ships. It is individual availabel in illustrious gloss. It won't ending forever, but it should give you a few years of service. After that, you may have need of to sand and recoat.

Good Luck!
An exterior paint is really the best thing. When be the last time you hear of anyone putting polyurethane on their house siding?
