I have newly framed a wall, now I want to install a outlet. I own a light switch give or take a few 8 feet away i.e. used for light, it also have 4 outlets in the master bedroom. Of the bedroom outlet just 3 plugs are being used for an alarm clock, TV, and a cable box. Can I run power rotten this switch, and not having the power gong rotten with the switch.
Answers: Your scenario is not prompted by code. Light circuits are 15 amp and are supposed to run off 14/2 romex. Receptacles are 20 amps and are supposed to be 12/2 compute wire. As everyone else have told you...it can be done if you have a impartial in your switch box but it is definately silly. Since the wall is just framed why not do it right?
You can, if you want power at the outlet constantly - connect your rope to the black wire coming into the top of the switch.... if you want the outlet controlled by the switch- connect it into the bottom telecommunication. To keep this up to code you will enjoy to use a pigtail on which ever side you choose.... this is a short piece of wire you tie into the switch and after use a wire nut(scotch lock) to connect the other 2 wires to it. As far as the impartial and ground... they will attach to the white and bare copper wires. Make sure you turn rotten the power before doing this. Good luck!!
