Wire colors for varying a 3 rope dryer plug to code compliant 4 chain plug.? I'm changing a 3 lead dryer plug to a 4 wire plug...
I'm changing a 3 lead dryer plug to a 4 wire plug to clash the wall recepticle. Do I just attach the 4 rope pigtail just close to the 3 wire? Or is at hand something else I should do? Colors on the pigtail are: red, white, green, black.
Answers: When you open the panel on the dryer, you will entail to remove the bonding strap that connects the green screw to the white wire inside the dryer. Then attach the green lead on your cord the green grounding screw. The other wires go within like the old-fashioned 3 wire cord....red to red, black to black, white to white.
