Window give a hand? i have a fanlight in my shower. it is not a full...
i have a fanlight in my shower. it is not a full size fanlight but a little smaller. it is the crank accessible style. we are re-doing our bath and shower alcove and we are wanting to completely do away with that window within the shower. we took the frame off but the DIY book we own doesn't have anything on to how to remove the fanlight and then how to block stale that area so it can a moment ago be a regular wall like the rest. so the put somebody through the mill is how do we remove the window? after how do we block it off to clash it to the rest of the wall.????
Answers: It depends on the type of window, a wood frame is more than probable nailed through the frame and exterior cover into the wall. Aluminum and vinyl windows enjoy an installation fin that goes around the exterior limits of the opening and is nail through the fin. I use a good pry fishing rod and rip that frame out, install some 2 X 4 or 2 X 6 studs, add exterior sheathing and siding, insulation and interior wall board.
A pane style window is probable a metal frame; but certainly the first answer offer valid suggestions.
In my two cents; I'd ask what is the "finish" at the exterior? Can you duplicate it? What is the wall substance/finish adjacent to the glass currently the interior? Can you duplicate it? Window in the shower? Yikes. Is the surrounding nouns tiled?
Framing contained by the opening beside appropriate length 2 x 4's is relatively simple. The interior and exterior medium and method to "Finish" might be more the oppose.
