I own decided to sort my own Goban. For those of you who do not know a goban is the game board for the team game of Go. Go is a game where on earth black and white pieces are played on a grid in proclaim to gain territory. Anyway I enjoy decided to breed my own. However traditionally gobans are made from one solid block of wood that is approximately 20in x 20 surrounded by x 6in. This is an extremely difficult cut to come by. I have contacted my local lumber patio but they want to charge me an arm an a leg for this size wood. I was hoping someone could notify me where would be a better place to find such a generous solid piece of wood, any wood would do really, though hardwoods are best. Or if someone who reads this have a large insensible tree or stump in their courtyard and they wouldnt mind me coming and hacking away at it that would be awesome too :) I'm contained by NY though but will travel all over to find what im looking for. Please oblige and thanks within advance.

Answers: If you are into doing a touch work, here is a way to sort it. First go to Home depot and bring back the following materials.
1 - 2x12x16'
2 - tubes of liquid nail (or construction adheasive
Cut the 2x12 in to 20" pieces and place 2 together, after take soft nails and spread substantially on the pieces then place 2 more pieces the divergent direction and nail together firmly. Then apply more fluid naild generously and place 2 more pieces and fastener firmly. Continue doing this until you have the desired concentration. Then you turn the whole piece over so in that are no exposed nail head and you can round of the corners with a router. Then rob a belt sander and smooth down the whole entry. (top and sides. Then take a palm sander to finish the surface. Then you can put doesn`t matter what design on top before you stamp it with a laminate sealer or you can stain it depending on what finished product you desire. you may own to fill the combined with fluid nails and agree to it cure before you sand it.
