I've seen furnture with exquisite pine and cherry plywoods. I've also seen really thin plywood (3/8") for drawers. Where does one buy that stuff? Neither Home Depot or other local lumber yard carry that sort of thing. They solitary have lumber for building houses.
What you can do is go to home depot or lowesand by a sheet of birch plywood .Birch plywood is what they make kitchen cabinet out of .It's a beautiful piece of wood that's very fine and smooth. With birch you usally stain it beside oak or cherry and so on. I believe it about 50. bucks a sheet, could be more now. fisrt depending surrounded by what part of the country you are...check your yellow page and look for LUMBER YARDS
Most of the building supply stores, while they may not carry specialty ply's... they can order them. So you might check that.
