Change the lock to a deadbolt style
They will know what you scrounging at the hardware store. ok what u need to do is go out to ur local orhards or osh and and convey them ur problem opps that helps
Hammer five or six finish nails into the door stop molding. The door stop molding is the wooden strip that the door lays against when it is closed. The nail should be driven in the area surrounded by line with the door latch. Space the nail within 1/4" of one another in a staight vertical chain. The nails will prevent the knife from going towards the bolt. If the frame and door are sturdy consequently a better lock should stop them. New locks have 2 pieces that come out the side of the door: a piece with an angle to it and a small piece shaped approaching half of a rod. the smaller piece keeps the lock from individual jimmied with a knife, etc. Go to a hardware store and ask. they will know!
Answers: You need a deadbolt style instead. A dead bolt one have a solid metal bar that goes deeper into the preserve and it can not be pried back into the lock like relations are doing now with a blade, credit card, etc. You'll have to make sure that the hole within the door frame is deep enough for a deadbolt charitable, but it will keep people out as long as nearby are no hinges on the outside of the door! They could take the pins out and catch in, but most likely the hinge are inside not outside your door. Good luck at the hardware store, I am sure they will help you.
