I'm trying to find out how much work I have ahead of me and what sort (if any) of digging apparatus I need to budget for . Trying to put in a deck (and perhaps a blind porch) as a free standing unit , right subsequent to our mobile home . THANKS for your help !!
Answers: I also live contained by NH(Laconia) and am a carpenter who has built literally hundreds of deck, I usually go 36"-42" it is enormously unlikely that frost will ever get that low.
You can dig them the outdated fashioned way (with a shovel or post hole digger) this unsurprisingly depends on how many holes you enjoy to dig and what the digging is like( soft soil, thorny pack ledge, roots, rocks can adjectives be tough to deal with) I've have holes one foot deep and next hit ledge, it's tricky to say what your going to hit until you start digging.
You can also rent a gas powered auger, they hold one or two man types, much faster, but hold on when you hit a root or rock and believe me you will.
Good luck and have fun
It is probably in the order of 4 feet. I would check next to the local building department for the specific footing depth for your area
