What is the best passageway to install a portable ac for swing-out pane fanlight? All windows are porthole style and "swing out" and there is...

All windows are porthole style and "swing out" and there is one generous sliding glass door too. I'd approaching to buy a portable AC unit, but my concern is how to incorporate it next to both the sliding glass door and the skylight windows. Any suggestions?

Answers:    if you can unscrew the casement pane far enough to fit the cooler surrounded by there it should be fine. i did a similar installation contained by a previous home. however i did not use the standard window paraphernalia. i never liked the reality that now the fanlight is totally closed off. try using Plexiglas and aluminum furrow to make a " replacement window" cut to the exact size and shape to imbue the gaps. you can still see out and receive light contained by this way. it looked much cleaner.

If I be doing the installation I would take the pane window out, and pack the top gap beside a new "impermanent window".

Most casement window can be taken out by simply unscrewing the top and bottom tracks. You also have to disconnect the crank.

Then build a false windowpane to slip over the AC unit within the the opening. You could also use a sold piece of plywood to pack the gap.

I would also recommend that you support the AC part from the bottom with any a 45 degree brace against the house or a vertical support going to the ground. As nearby is no real support on top to preserve the AC unit from falling out.
