What is the best filament to crochet a scarf next to? I'm new to this and since it's really cold out immediately, and...
I'm new to this and since it's really cold out immediately, and my old scarf is wearing out, and I of late learned how to crochet...I be wondering, what is the best yarn to do that beside?
Here are my following questions-
~ What is the best yarn to crochet beside? meaning the ply and bulk and stuff...
~What kind of crochet hook? The Type please..
And you know, since I already said that I'm spanking new to this, How wide and long should the scarf be?, I want it to be heat and long enough to keep hold of me warm, but not too overbearing, close to a REALLY wide scarf, I'll look resembling an idiot wearing that. Also, is it possible to make those tassles on the shutting of each side of the scarf?

I would step to your yarn store or Hobby Lobby and look at some of the cool specialty yarn they have very soon. They always enjoy swatches so you can see how they look, and directions (often free sheets) for making them.
I would get a wool / acrylic blend, those are reheat and very washable. Pick a model that has no holes. Something melt shouldn't have holes lol.
For nice big (long and not too wide) I would grasp 3 skeins
Skeins will usually come 3.5 oz, and get worsted immensity
Size i or j hook, I like metal hooks and prefer Susan Bates over Boye, but both are appropriate
Get any extra skeins when you buy, unless it says "no dye lot". You can other return them or save extra's for adjectives projects.
You can make your scarf as widespread or as long as you want, down to your knees of you want, but remember you have to wrap it around your collar and still have it long satisfactory. To measure, a moment ago try it on as you go.
You can other add fringe or tassel when you are done with the scarf.
You can never look approaching an idiot in the winter. People will be overprotective of you with a big melt scarf (but I live in MN)
To not be overbearing, don't step crazy with the colors. You can receive a scarf that matches respectively of your coats. I have made a smaller scarf for cold weather and a huge and broad scarf for bitter cold weather (and everyone is jealous lol)

Answers: 3.5 to 4 ounce skein should work for a scarf; you need some filament for fringe, too. Could get 2 skeins so may own extra if you need it, depending on how long you run, length of fringe, etc.. It is best to get your extra up front so you know the line color matches (colors sometimes ebb and flow from different dye batches). Get 4 ply & check for skein stating washable. When find that area of fibre & types, feel the softness of respectively for your choice. Avoid extra 'fuzzy' types of yarn: the extra fuzzy types don't look nice after wash & difficult to crochet for a beginner.
Small 'holes' make a contribution more warmth so a single crochet stitch would be tighter. I prefer a double crochet stitch for nouns circulation & if wanted it thicker, I would engender it twice as wide (then own option of folding it when putting on or creating a seam so it have 'two sides').
Get a set with an assortment of hooks. Small hooks makes small stitches and larger hooks make large/looser stitches.
F, G, H, I, J, K works with 4 ply. Find which hook feel comfortable for you. I use the 'H' or 'I' a lot for scarf, afghan, stocking sunhat.
Regarding width of scarf, do a practice near 11 slip knot later one row of crocheting. The # you start with will depend on hook size & type of stitch used. If it is too short, verbs it apart & start over. The scarf will look better after you had a couple of practice rows first and the hook near yarn more relaxed contained by your hand - - inside of 'freeze'/ tight within start & loose/relaxed on the rest.
The length will be determined as you move along. You WILL know where you aspiration to stop.
Fringe. Length in inches you want X 2 + 1 & cut. Example:
3" fringe: 3 X 2 is 6. plus 1 equals 7. Cut 7" filament strips. Take 2 & poke middle into an end stitch, the loop that comes thru is where on earth you put the threads into. Pull tight. You now enjoy 4 fringes in one conclusion stitch. Skip one or two stitches & repeat. When done, trim unmatching fringes.
Have extra yarn, gross a matching stocking panama. Length from top of head to forehead is your 'width' & verbs as if making scarf. When long enough to comfortably arrive at around your head, do a seam. Now it looks close to a cylinder. Weave a yarn thread contained by and out on one of the cylinder edges and pull tight = specifically top of head. Pom Pom = wrap cotton about 75 times around protest size of cigarette pack. Take a thread about 8" long & tie around chunk of those wrapped threads, tie 2-3 knot. Slip yarn sour the object you wrapped around & holding the tied part of the pack. The loops hanging down, cut through so they are 'fringe'. Take your scrambled thread (8" one) & pull respectively of the 2 threads into top of cap (each of the 2 threads within separate cap holes) & tie underside of trilby.
Trim pom pom threads so they are even.
