I have a pen of long grass but i don't wan't to cut it with a lawnmower because that shreds the grass to pieces when i in actual fact wan't to use the long grass for hay.
a string trimmer (weed wacker) will cut the base but it will purloin a very long time!! i enjoy seen those commercials for a DR trimmer entity that would work, or you could get one of those hoary school scythe things, but well-mannered luck!! ask a nearby cultivator to borrow his tractor and hay cutter

To effectively produce hay, you entail to first cut it and lay it in windrows using a disc mower or sickle as already mentioned. But you also inevitability to let it dry for a while beforehand it can be baled without rotting. And while it's drying, you call for to use a tedder. This will turn and "fluff" the hay to ensure the moisture is removed. Then you need a baler. It's profusely of hard work making and baling hay!

If you freshly want to cut it and then collect it, consequently use a field and brush mower. It's a wheel mower with a big trimmer leader in lieu of a blade. There are also some bearing behind sickle fishing rod mowers out there that are fundamentally effective for that sort of piece..
Answers:    You need a scythe, its a paw tool. Its hard work but if its sharp you can cut effortlessly through thick long grass. They use them to cut through sugar rattan. Wiki has some info.
