so im doing a school project for my technology. I can make anything i want that i can use at home out of wood. Im really stuck for accepted wisdom, and thought maybe something like some speakers or a push button rack.
hoping to make something more original though.. any philosophy?

What more or less a simple plant stand?
a pegrack?
a wooden trivet for hot dishes? (you could woodburn a design - if you don't have the tools, check with your coach.)
a geometric (no curves) puzzle with the wood stained/painted
different colors? (this could also be decorative)
a simple wooden candle holder?
Go nuts! Just look around the house and see if there are
some things you ruminate you could make just as economically from wood.

Answers: it all depends on the stratum of your skill. If you are looking to make something out of wood that shows technology there is other the derby cars. If you are looking for something else you can make a box, or a frame. This is a project that if you would have given somewhat more information it would have been somewhat easier.
How about chopsticks? Just keep on carving them near a knife until it turns into slim chopsticks! Make a jewlery box then when you achieve graded give it to mom.
