Quilting thread and dental floss are strong and not too expensive, you can thread your beads on them and not verbs that your work will be lost as the threads less expected to break. And strings are more flexible than most of the wires found at bead shops. If you want loops hanging down around your shelves, be sure not to thread your bead too tightly together, leave them a bit wiggle room.
Maybe you'd approaching one of those mosquito net sets for over your bed (about $20) and string bead down the opening along respectively edge. They would look cool looped and later stitched to the opening edges every 6" or so, vastly funky and fancy too. Good luck with your project!
