Vinyl tiles installation? I am pulling up the carpet surrounded by my kitchen to replace...
I am pulling up the carpet surrounded by my kitchen to replace it with vinyl floor tiles for a intervening fix until we redo the kitchen. Under the mat is pading throughout the whole surface. Under the pading, undressed wood. However, the wood is covered with a hugely thin coat of some tipe of cement or resin, brown stuff, not sure what it is but it isn't sticky or sleek to the touch. The surface is completely flat though. My question:
Do I want to scrub the wood before applying the tiles or can I apply the tiles as is.
Thank you for your response contained by advance.
Answers: you can apply a sinewy layer of leveling grout over the dried cement to achieve a flat surface...
You necessitate to clean it (the sub-floor) as best you can within preparation of adding another band of plywood (3/8 or 1/2 inch). You glue and screw the 2nd section down with the joint staggered from the first layer. Your tile go on top. Never lay your tile on only the first blanket, and never try to glue it to an unknown ripened glue surface. You requirement new plywood to gain optimum results.
