My parent's house was built contained by 1984, so of course the cabinet are your typical, plain cabinets next to an ugly brown stain/wood crumb. This summer I plan to strip, sand, and stain them and also to add alien hardware. I have never done anything this intense so I requirement some good suggestions please! (also include types of stain and color suggestions)
-Also the current stain of the cabinet is kind of dark-once I strip and sand would I know how to stain them to be a lighter shade? Thanks!
I had it done but you could weakly sand, use a good primer after put on final color. Replace hardware. Mine look like strange cabinets.

Be very punctilious, are you absolutely sure the cabinet are solid wood and not a veneer? Most likely you enjoy veneer - this was widely used contained by the 80's and may not stand up to the stripping and sanding you are planning to do. You may be better bad by painting the cabinet with a kitchen and hip bath paint (designed specifically for long wear and humid environments) and with the introduction of unsullied hardware - it can make for an starry change. Check out Rockler.com for the hardware option.
Good Luck!
