I want to run a small solar setup

what i need is 2 or 4 small solar panel
-found on ebay about 12 bucks respectively

1 deep cycle 12 volt battery-operated

1 power inverter to convert 12v to 110ac

From what I've gathered, I can line two solar panels within parallel
to produced 12volts 240 mA at 2.88 watts

Or with 4 panel in parallel 12volts 480 mA at 5.76 watts

For this setup i will own all the lights bad of the mains power wired directly from the inverter. I will run something like 4 or 5 CFL's.

does anyone see any problem with this setup or anything else I should know since proceeding
Answers:    Inverters are not very well-run. You may be better off finding some 12V lights designed for boats or RV's that run directly on 12 volts a bit than using an inverter.
Look at the numbers. If you were contained by my part of California, you would achieve an average of about five hours of sunlight a sunshine. With the four panels you would win less than six watts. Six times five is 30, so you would procure 30 watt hours per day. At 12 cents per kilowatt hour you can recover about 3/10ths of a cent per light of day. And that only if your battery/inverter arrangement be 100% efficient.
