I wanted to pour an auxiliary concrete slab next ot my current one the spanking new slab will be approximately 6' by 10'. I just want the fresh part to look well brought-up against the existing patio. Should I do this myself or hire a pro? Will I know how to get someone to do such a small chore?? Any ideas of what this might cost (labor and materials) would be appreciated.
When you've mixed up the concrete by foot for that amount - you won't think it a small profession.
Get a reliable jobbing builder to give you a quote for doing the work.
If you feel confident after you could do it yourself. If I did I would enlist the help of a apt diy book. I don't know the cost because judging by how you spelled 'labour' you must be an American at smallest and I don't live there so...

Are you immature with a strong stern? This is back-breaking work. But if you're young, do it yourself. 6'x10' is small, but concrete is stocky stuff. You could rent a small mixer at Home Depot, buy the cement and do it yourself. A contractor will charge a lot and a small errand like this - he'll probably want to sneak it contained by at the tail end of a big opportunity with some departed over concrete he has. See?
You can estimate costs by taking that 6x10 number to a Loews or Home Despot and asking them how much for the mixer and concrete. Getting the mixer to your house is your job- you gotta drag it into a truck. They may deliver it but they'll want a chunky confinement fee for that as all right.
Be sure you do this job when it's dry and thaw out!

some things to consider is if you can acquire a cement truck back in that to pour it, if so the cheapest route would be to dig it adjectives out yourself, then tolerate someone use the leftover cement from a bigger undertaking to fill your porch in. later let them finish it to, if you own never finished concrete. there is an art and tricks of the trade to finishing the concrete, best bet is to merely dig it out after let someone else finish
