Self-Tailoring a Trench Coat? I just get this adorable red trench with big black buttons and...
I just get this adorable red trench with big black buttons and cheetah print bin liner from wetseal. It was just $20 because it was on Dutch auction, but I also had to buy a size larger than regular because their inventory was low. It fits other, but the middle isn't tapered and although it fits nice through the arms and shoulders, it looks similar to im wearing a red trashbag from my neckline down. Because it isn't that fine of a coat, it wouldn't be worth taking it to a tailor, but I was thining something like self tailoring it a bit to make it more fitted around the waist. I have thought about mabey taking bad the buttons and moving them farther out, making a tighter clinch around my waist but then the front of the coat looks lopsided. Any other suggestions? It have "seams" or stitching or whatever its call running down in a variety of places...could I sew those? Anything is helpful, appreciation!
Answers: Before you attempt anything, take it to a tailor and ask how much they would charge. If you get it on sale it would probably be worth it to own it done professionally.
And, if you just move the buttons, the full line of the coat will be sour.
