the house i rent had the downstairs bedroom wall knock out to make the LR bigger....and I requirement that xtra bedroom. Without going to the expense of rebuilding the wall and door frame, door etc., how can I divide the room so that it can be used for a bedroom? the landlord say he can't afford to do it.. ahahahahaha!
You could try dividing the room within half next to draperies made from big canvas drop cloths from a home raise store (look in the paint dept) . The tarp "drapes" could be hung on a heavy duty line that stretches from wall to wall. Either sew a rod pocket in the drop cloths by folding the end over about 3 inches and sewing it down OR use draperies rings that own clamps attached to hold the curtain. The wire attaches to the wall next to eye screws and one of the hardware thingies that hold on to ropes and guidelines tight. Good luck with your project. Have you ever seen oriental screen? They're collapsible.

Have you ever seen bookcases made out of bricks and plywood? You could build one of those, set it within the room as the divider and place fabric on one of the backsides (the bedroom side) to craft it more like a bedroom. Keep the other side get underway to put your books and maybe even you TV on.

Best.

or DIY...
*curtains hung from the ceiling
*2 or 3 sets of bifold doors hinged together. you can buy them at a home store for pretty cheap-pre-painted or raw
*wall of dated windows hung from ceiling studs
*a voluminous outdoor roll shade

hope this gives you some planning
