Ok I'm trying to reupholster a bar stool I own at my house. It's a simple round pad, but I own a square piece of fabric that I'm going to use to cover it. How would I cut the textile in a means of access that it will fit over the round edges of the stool with a minimum number of folds. If you enjoy any advice or know of any links to such pattern please post them. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Answers: The better banister stool should have a form that is held to the legs/base by screw. Undo the screws. Remove the infirm upholstery fabric. In righteous upholstery there are at lowest 3 layers over the wood: nouns, muslim fabric, and the patterned upholstery fabric. If the filling and muslim are in apt condition, lay the seat disc over the brand new upholstery fabric to spawn sure you have sufficient breadth. Note how the old stuff was laid out, and duplicate attaching the unmarked fabric within the same comportment. You can use tacks or staples, but don't tack too close to the lip of the fabric. After tack the first point, stretch the opposite point tight and tack it down. Move 90กใ and tack again, but be wary to keep the material straight; some fabrics will stretch diagonally. Then stretch and tack the textile across from this. You now own 4 tacks contained by place. Work back and forth, solely doubling fabric within a fold in the later tackings. Replace the reupholstered seat on the underneath and screw it secure again.
Some stools own upholstered tops over glued down sitting room. For these I recommend you measure across the top, down the sides and put in 3 inches (10"+2"+2"+3"). Cut your fabric contained by a circle this diameter. Surge or satin stitch the edge of the material circle to prevent fraying. Turn finished edge lower than and stitch closed except for 1 inch, making a pocket. Pin a length of heavy duty flexible near the hole. Pin another safety pin to the finale of the elastic and insert it through the hole. Pull the elastic thru the pocket using the sanctuary pin until you come back out the debut. Fit the cover over the existing cushion, pulling the elastic tighter or looser for best fit and pin surrounded by place. Remove from stool. Overlap elastic and stitch surrounded by place. Remove pins and allow elastic to jump down inside pocket. Place over stool seat. I used grosgrain ribbon instead of pliable, and tied the ends around one of the legs into a bow. Hope this helps.
The simply way to upholster it minus folds is to use two pieces of fabric sewn together. A circle on top and a leash for the sides.
